Wild Blackberry Snakes
Just a recap of the fossil fuel post/trip:
father and i met at the strawberry restaurant on the corner; both of us were at least 15 minutes early. punctual toadpoles. we ate breakfast. we then went in the direction of the fossil creek trail beginning a couple miles away. but i couldn't really remember where exactly the turn off was. i have only been there once previously and i wasn't paying too much attention that time. so we parked and started walking on a road that looked a bit familiar. but i was unsure and we decided to cut off the road into a ravine. there was a bit of brush in the way that we squeezed through. i thought, "surely we'll intersect with the trail eventually." no. as it turned out, the path's start was only like a hundred yards to our right when we first cut off from the road.
but the ravine we randomly went down ended up going directly to the sought-after dam. exclamation point. it was a more difficult route but it was much shorter, by like three miles. whilst we were down there we discovered wild blackberry bushes growing deliciously everywhere. the mask goggles i brought were nice under the blue water. the water was really nice, and the day was perfectly sunny for the occasion. i saw two snakes too. one slithered away into the water while i was crossing the creek on a log. the other slithered away into the black berry bushes when we were getting drinking water from the flume. ( a flume is on of the tube kind of things that used to be used to transport water miles away. there's and old out of order one by the big water/dam that i swung on a rope off of into the deep cool water.
then father and i went to go get dinner at the same place we ate breakfast at before going our separate ways.
p.s. i am learning a bit in piano. it is good. but i regret not also taking a creative writing course along with it.
there was a good show last night on leroux st.
the dandelion junk queens, pirate/gypsy drinking music. one on accordion, one on fiddle, one on drums etc., and one on a bass that is really just a rope connected to a pole wedged onto an upside down metal bucket. they have a new album too. i bought it but have not yet listened to it.
i miss people.
