Twenty Years Ago Today, A Few Days Ago.
the last couple of weeks have been eventful. i got a space heater for my room. It is zach and erica’s, I’m just borrowing it for the winter.
there have been lots of good shows lately. alliaceous, train wreck riders, ghost mice, two gallants, and black elk to name some of them.
my birthday was three days long in spirit. i have sundays and tuesdays off, and i also asked for my birthday off too. daden came over to flagstaff on sunday at midday. we got sandwiches and i burned him a few cds. he dropped off all those dvds that i'll be watching for money. then we went and played some frisbee in the park. and went downtown for some carrot juice. he left at about 4:30. i can't decide on whether or not i want an electric piano or a digital camera. maybe the camera, i really like pictures and have practically none.
there was a show sunday night (black elk,) at the cottage home, they are going to start having more shows there again now that someone moved out and someone moved in, and this was the kick off show of that. i got some beer beforehand from the post. after the show people hung around for a bit, then hillary and i went to get more beer.
- spring, you know hillary, not the one who was with brian gruters, but the other one, she has the blonde hair and is 21. she grew up in Williams, Arizona. the weekend previous the weekend before my b-day, on friday, the night of the 'goth' party at pete's, me and hillary danced a bit and then sat close to eachother on the couch, if you know what i mean. at like 430am we went and slept on the floor by the living room on/under a blanket until 530am, when hillary had to go get ready for work. we kissed briefly and it was cute. the day after the next day, at night, we watched alice in wonderland (disney) as we had been planning to do eventually for months. she slept over but we just layed cause i was bashful/uncertain. she fell asleep before the flowers singing scene so the following night we started it in the middle. and then it was wednesday and the ghost mice two gallants show at "the decimal point." a really fun show. lots of great energy from the kids and from the bands. i hadn't called hillary, cause sometimes you're not supposed to. but she did come to the show and we held hands for a little while while standing, watching the band.
i tried to record some of two gallants for a friend but it was too dark to see, so i probably just got mostly audio with dark figures moving around. hillary left at twelveam because she had to work again at six a.m. i walked her to her car and she kissed me on the cheek and i kissed her on the cheek and walked back down the street and into the show where the last band was playing. the next day i went to her work and she gave me a free chai tea with two shots of espresso in it like she said she would. i will not/am not being overly optimistic though, obviously. i don't know what will happen. if not nothing. then i went and sat with ana at the tables outside and got a biff's bagel, veggie deluxe w/ hummus-
so, back at the post, right before twelve o'clock at night, hillary asked me what kind of beer i wanted for my birthday. i finally chose la fin du munde, a lovely, sweet beer i used to drink when i worked at Handlebar in chicago. plus a six pack of schlitz. then we met some folks at a house across the street. at the house there was a wall in the living room with blank, pencilled-on, numbered squares a few inches large. the idea was that people would grab, if they wanted to, a number out of a hat and whichever number you got was the square you would get to paint. taped to each of the blank squares were tiny pieces of paper with a general rendering of the colors that were suposed to be included on that particular square. my turned out nicely, people said. steven's looked like a van gogh.
at about one hour into my birthday i was starting to fall asleep on a chair so we decided to go home. the next day was stayed in bed until i got too hungry for lunch. la bellavia was closed for no reason so we ate morning glory. and met some people there. myra came in to work (at morning glory) in full pirate garb because of a parade she was in right before.
the evening of the 23rd, 8 of my closer friends and i dined at hiro's. the sushi was excellent. and the miso soup. and the green ice cream i got, on the house. coincidentally, there was another big table of people next to us for somebody elses birthday too. i was the last to walk outside, and when i did everyone from both the birthday dinners sang all at once to me and to the other birthday boy too, whom i didn't even know.
then i went to myra's house, where she gifted me a six pack and mark and sean played around on a casio. then mark improvised a bunch of really funny dramatic sad songs that we all helped sing. and i called leah back on the phone.
on tuesday, my third day off and the last day of my birthday. i went to piano and accelled, due to my practicing before class. then, upon returning home, kaylyn walked up the steps as i was about to walk downstairs to do laundry. we got some black velvet and soda and she took me out to china garden where i got the usual. then her, donovan, and i came back to my house and hung out and drew pictures til one, then i folded my clean clothes and went to bed for work in the morning.
the insurance guy came today to finally look at my car to give me an estimate for the damages to my hood, from when some guy in a truck backed into me a couple of months ago in the parking lot at work. fully his liability, thankfully. i'll be getting a new hood.
and that is an update, up until yesterday. i have piano class again at 5:30p.m. today (4:30 really, because i'll go early to practice).
