The Things I've Made This Month

This month I've made a few things for the first time.

they are as follows:

fresh hummus, roti (indian flat bread), and fresh salsa. all of these were so easy and really good.

i am going to make a 'plum spread' soon from the plums i got off the tree up the street.
spring's gonna make a plum and pear pie!

i've started reading a couple of books about how to be self-sufficient in the wilderness.
one is by this dude tom brown who grew up being taught to track by an apache indian in the Barrens of New Jersey.
the other is more hands-on details..

i've started a little planner book. (my "brain") for remembrin'.

Adge is in hawaii right now. the day after she comes back she'll be officially moving up to olympia for good.

there was a free media camp this last weekend.

i went and took the following free classes:

day 1:
stenciling workshop,
a lead poisoning prevention workshop,
a how to invest your money in a socially responsible way (oxymoron? i'll let you know as i look further into the information i got at this workshop),
imovie editing,
free dinner and a few short films (my favorite film was a documentary about this lawyer (AUMOHD) in haiti who helps get people out of jail who are there illegally, about 85% of the people imprisoned in haiti right now have not been given a hearing or even spoken to a judge. this guy also organizes communities to know and stand up for their rights. http://www.hurah-inc.org/) the films were shown at the african-american cultural center (new born tribe) here in portland,
day 2:
i took how to transfer you miniDV (digital video) to dvd,
how to post a podcast,
and practicing interviewing techniques.
followed by another free dinner at this place called liberty hall. i met a few people.
